Tom Walsh of Worcester is raising funds and awareness for Otsego Outdoors and the Bassett Cancer Institute by attempting a southbound 360 mile thru-hike on the Long Path, from Thatcher Park in Albany County to 175th Street in Manhattan.
This is the fifth charity hike for Walsh, an avid hiker, trail volunteer, and cancer survivor.
Bassett Healthcare Network is an integrated health system that provides care and services to people living in a 5,600 square mile region in upstate New York. Bassett Cancer Institute is a Commission on Cancer accredited program that offers screening and treatment of a variety of cancers to patients throughout that region.
Otsego Outdoors, a collaborative program of Otsego 2000, Otsego Land Trust, the Otsego County Conservation Association, and the Butternut Valley Alliance, connects people with year-round recreational opportunities in Otsego County and offers seasonal Otsego Octet challenges. Otsego Outdoors will use the funds raised for trail maintenance and improvements.
Your donation of any amount will help Tom reach his goal of $5,000, which will be split evenly between the two organizations.
Please consider making your donation through ACH payment. By doing so, you save the charities 3% in credit card processing fees. If you use a credit card, you can opt to cover the fees so all of your donation is given to Bassett Cancer Institute and Otsego Outdoors.
Please note in comments that this is for Tom's Charity Hike, and feel free to send along good wishes.
Donations made through this form are tax-deductible.
