Pulling off a minor or major museum event...start with a small scale effort and graduate to a major one; manage a small area and recruit volunteers for that area or organize a bus trip
Could entail serving drinks, cooking and grilling, selling raffle tickets, helping kids paint pumpkins, selling baked goods, selling museum shop items, making funnel cakes, publicity, mailings
Event Setup and Teardown
Setting up tents, tables, arranging chairs; breaking down same after an event
Museum Docent/Jr Docent Program
Teenagers and adults are welcome to join us. Share your knowledge of the Salem Avery House and Chesapeake Bay facts with our guests during visitor hours. Free training!
Youth Education Program
Assist with planned activities for scheduled school groups, garden projects at local preschool, or Family Sunday Programs
Help to identify and pursue sponsorships, solicit new "Choose It!" opportunities and market venue rentals
Tasks could include mailings, copying and data entry - to name a few
Building and Grounds
Gardening, mulching, planting, making minor repairs to buildings/sheds
Repairs and maintenance of our collection of historic Chesapeake sail and working boats
